LCPC, State Supervisor, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S).
When I first began working with children and adolescents as a counselor, I quickly realized something important: Children and adolescents do not experience "the world" or express themselves the same way that adults do. Asking a child to "tell you how they feel or talk about their feelings often will result with "I don't know" and often even as adults we don't know exactly how we feel. When I first sat on the floor with children, and received training in sand play, I was really able to understand what their play was communicating and every thing changed. That realization is what led me to pursue becoming a play Therapist Supervisor.
Early in my career, I used play in sessions because it helped children be able to express their feelings better then "talking" about how the felt. We played games, used art supplies, and explored toys together. But I began noticing that children would be more expressive with their feelings, tell me meaningful stories through their play-stories about their parents, about school, about their fears, loss and connections with family and friends.
I wanted to learn more, to understand why certain play themes kept appearing, what this meant, and how to respond in ways that truly supported healing rather then just engagement. It was this curiosity that lead me to become a registered play therapist supervisor. Play therapy is not just “playing with kids.” It is a deeply intentional, evidence-based approach that requires learning how to observe, interpret, and respond to play in ways that foster emotional regulation, resilience, and growth. Children learn best through play, and I value the opportunity to continue to work with you and your family. Also remember play is not only for children, but for us young adults who are children at heart.
Children often come to therapy during some of the hardest moments in their lives—big feelings, big emotions, confusing experiences, changes they didn’t choose. My role is to create a space where your child does not have to find the “right words” to be understood. Children learn best through play, and play is a child's way of learning how to regulate their feelings and emotions.
As a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor I am listening closely—not just to what your child says, how your child plays, but to what their play is expressing. I am watching for themes in their play, and shifts that guide the therapeutic process. I am continually thinking about how to support you as a parent, because meaningful change happens both inside and outside the playroom.
My journey to becoming a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor was shaped by the children and families I’ve had the privilege to work with. They taught me that play is not “just play.” It is how children heal, make sense of their world, and begin to feel safe again.
If you’re reading this, you’re likely trying to figure out how best to support your child/adolescent—and that alone tells me how much you care about your relationship with them.

The RPT credential—granted by the Association for Play Therapy (a4pt.org)—reflects advanced training specifically in:
For me, earning this credential as a RPT-S represents a deepening of my clinical skills, understanding of play, and a commitment to meeting children exactly where they are.
